The Inaugural Vacation Rental Women’s Summit was held in New Orleans in 2019.

It was a first for this industry – an event without an exhibitor hall – where some attendees started the day with vision boarding and heard from keynote speakers who were not talking about the business.

We had a High Tea after listening to Lady Carnarvon – the owner of Highclere Castle [AKA Downton Abbey] in the UK - and Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love.

The organization of the conference was magnificent and there was almost universal acclaim for an event that was truly independent of external influences, AKA the major listing platforms.

VRWS should have delivered the second edition in February of this year, but it was too soon to ensure a good attendance and a safe experience, so it was postponed to December 2021.

This winter we can get together in New Orleans at the same beautiful venue, The Ritz Carlton Hotel on Canal St, for a pre-Christmas, post-COVID celebration of all the best of the short-term rental industry.

And gentlemen, don’t be put off by the title. VRWS 2019 welcomed the likes of Matt Landau, Ben Edwards, Tim Cafferty and many others who enjoyed the vibe just as much.

This is just a different event from those we are used to in this industry.

The brainchild of Amy Hinote, founder of VRM Intel, the Vacation Rental Women’s Summit was borne out of frustration at the lack of independence in traditional conferences. She says on the event website:

‘If you attended the 2019 Women’s Summit, you know that this conference is a judgement-free zone. We begin and end this conference with a spirit of connectivity, acceptance, and encouragement. This allows us to share ideas more freely and address questions that might not otherwise be discussed, and we get to more deeply connect with industry professionals who remain friends and advisers throughout our careers."

In this episode, Amy shares the highlights of the first event and what makes this a truly unique experience as well as:

  • What prompted the idea of a Women's conference
  • The keynote speakers that will enthrall the audience
  • Why New Orleans in December?
  • What is high tea anyway?
  • The personal development track
  • Why you need to book now?
  • Notice of the DARM conference in Charleston, SC – another for your calendar
